Berg 5 receiver

Here's a photo of the Air Craft micro antenna that I've installed along with a new receiver. See the short piece of red wire taped to the landing gear? that's it! Unlike other ones that I've used, only 38mm of the original antenna is required. I've used micro antennas like this with all my park fliers and this heli without any problems. I remember how I used to hate trying to deal with a full length antenna on my Piccolo! There is a weight savings, with almost 3 grams of the original antenna being lopped off.

Here's my new JR R610 UL receiver with a new Berg6 sitting on the MaxiR's battery tray for size comparison. I'd forgotten to cancel a back order for the JR unit once I found this Berg. When I had both in hand I chose the JR because it was a few grams lighter and it was short enough that I could mount it lengthwise between the canopy sides like the Berg 5 originally used. In the ophoto on the left, note that I replaced the plastic case for the crystal with a piece of grey foam from a servo case.

This is the Berg 5 used in the original setup. I swapped it out because I wanted a 6th channel so I could use the transmitter for gyro sensitivity instead of the pot on the little Telebee gyro. Note this other micro antenna, called a LighTenna from eflightproducts.com, uses a 73 mm section of the original antenna. I've used several of these and really like them. It's somewhat longer, just barely poking out the rear of the Maxir's antenna tube. In my opinion this receiver's top mounted servo connector configuration is much better than the end mounted ones in the other two because the servo connectors and wires are easier to manage.
